Creede is a historic mining town in Southwestern Colorado. While the mines were closed in the mid 1980's, a legacy of unique structures and can-do attitudes remains. Located in a county that is 97% National Forest Land near the headwaters of the Rio Grande with hunting, marvelous fly-fishing, hiking, biking, skiing and endless possibilities for outdoor recreation, Creede has its own distinctive culture and ambiance. It is also home to the Creede Repertory Theatre, one of the best Off-Broadway theatres in the United States. We think of Creede as one of the "last, best places" of the American West.
